Hey, Giant fans, welcome to The Giant Insider Podcast. My name is Jerry Foley. I'm the senior editor of the Giant Insider newspaper, and with me as always as the beat writer, the Heart of Giants Nation, arguably the busiest man on the Giants beat, Chris Bisignano. Chris, before we get into that and before we get into the mini camp, which we want to talk about, we have to mention the loss of Jim Fossil at age 71.

I imagine it was suddenly died of a heart attack, tragically. Lots to say about Fossil. I guess I'll

start with, he represents to me like an exciting time in Giants football when he came on in 97.

It was after the Dan Reeves era.

And he was brought in to fix Dave Brown.

Obviously, that didn't work out.

But he had a pretty successful run with the Giants for seven years.

Yeah.

I mean, 97 was a nice run.

They got upset by the Vikes, you know?

But I mean, they got beat, you know, I guess it wasn't upset in 97. Well, they were up, yeah. They were the home team. They were up late, right? Yeah. And then obviously Fossil had that run in 2000, you know, the chips in the middle of the table and all that. Made Kerry Collins, man, resurrected his career. Yeah. And I'll, you know what, Jerry, I'll say to this day, dude, I know they went to the Super Bowl in 2000.

went to the super bowl in 2000 i had a great win we were both there right uh the nsci championship

game the stadium was rocking yeah um uh they go to the super ball um and the whole deal okay they lose

and i'll say it again, Jerry.

In 2002,

Collins and that team was hitting on all cylinders.

They go into the playoffs.

They beat the Colts late in the year, remember with Pete? Yes, yep.

They go into that playoffs and they blow that lead to the 49ers. And Jerry, Kerry Collins was playing lights out, remember? Yes, yep. The offense was lights out. Yeah. The team was rolling. And I still, Jerry, to this day, we all know what happened against the 49ers. We got robbed. I know they blew the big lead. They still got robbed, though. They still should have had the winning field goal. Dude, set up for a little.

Should have been set up again. Offsetting. Should have been, right? Jerry, I would have liked

to have seen that next game. And if the Giants, you know, I forget who the hell the 90s played
