I can't speak for all veterans, but for myself, after leaving military service, I struggled quite a bit to find purpose.

And if I'm being totally honest, I'm still navigating my way towards my purpose.

And my guest today found an amazing way to channel his energy and effort and find another purpose.

His name is Damien Mander.

He's a former Australian Royal Navy clearance diver and special operations military sniper and an Iraq war combat veteran.

What you're going to hear about today is that after his military service,

as it does for most, his life took a turn. And he ended up in Zimbabwe, of all places,

and he became involved in anti-poaching efforts, particularly stopping the hunting of rhinos,

who are poached for their horns, which are used in alternative medicine. And because of their use in traditional Chinese medicine, large rhino horns can go for more than $100,000 each on the black market.
