and the Ghost in the 5th chair. As always, Joby Martin. So to launch in here, I just want to dig right

into the text of Matthew 2. Caleb, can you actually read Matthew 2 versus 1 through 6?

You bet. Now, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the King,

behold, Magi from the East arrived in Jerusalem saying, where is he who has been born king of the

Jews, where we saw his star in the East and have come to worship him? When Herod the King heard

this, he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him and gathering together all the chief priests

and scribes of the people. He inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. They said to him,

in Bethlehem of Judea, for this is what has been written by the prophet 6 also. Yes, sir.

In you, Bethlehem, land of Judah are by no means least among the leaders of Judah,

where far or far from you will come forth a ruler who will shepherd my people, Israel.

So a lot of things here at the beginning. So in verse 1, they talk about Bethlehem of Judea.

That's about 6 miles south of Jerusalem just for you know, you geography folks out there.

There's a mention almost immediately of Herod the King. So I think enough is known about Herod.

Well, I don't want to assume enough is known about Herod. But Herod was a rough dude.

This is a guy that was not shy about killing people that he thought was going to cross him.

He killed three of the sons. He killed his wife. He killed his mother-in-law. And he killed

you know, numbers of other people. So he features prominently in Matthew 2. When it talks about how
