Summary

Every once in a while you kinda want to go big or go home. Problem is, if you are going to spend a little extra, you want to make sure you get quality, authenticity, and a true premium experience. As pipe enthusiasts, we know that ‘matter matters’ and we all appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into the various pipes and pipe tobaccos available to us. In this series, we will expand our horizons beyond the pipe to discover top shelf products and experiences that bring us joy and up our sophistication game along the way. This week: Cigars!

Listener Feedback: (From Brian) Hey guys! You addressed a question of mine on air recently where I asked about what goes into the naming of blends. Jon David talked about how it was often a very personal process. I was struck when I saw Whale Song appear on the Country Squire website. The name didn't immediately resonate with me, until I read the description. When I realized it was a limited edition made up of McClelland ingredients and that it was a Virginia-Perique (which I know to be among Jon David's favorite styles of blends), I began to realize what the name really meant. Whale Song. Not only evocative of that iconic crested whale image on the cover of so many McClelland tins, but also suggestive of the barely audible song whales use to mourn the loss of family members. This is representative of what a blend name can be. Simple, poetic, like a haiku.

i mean it's a 50 year old business in an industry that predates the country and yet constantly is changing. You know, you know, nobody thinks about like pipe tobacco and like the world of innovation. Dynamic. Yeah. But that's just the case, man. You don't get to, you don't get to be in the game that long without realizing the change is inevitable and you're kind of constantly working through it. It's true. It really is true. So it's just the forces we have to deal with. But yeah, things are going well at the shop, really proud of our staff. And yeah, it's been been a lot of fun. That's great, man. Well, I love that, you know, you start right off talking about the premium tobacco world because that is exactly what we're going to be talking about. We're diving into it today. Because of all of like the, the newest content, it was one. Yeah, it was, it was different. It was on, we incorporated some on location things for that one. And I'm hoping in the future we'll be able to do more on location type things things. So this one's not going to have quite that that action this time around, but I don't want to say that that'll never happen again. It's my hope that we'll be able to do more of that in the future. Sure. But we're actually, we're talking about a finer thing subject matter that we fortunately don't have to travel very far for to really get too deep into. And that is in the world of
