Hello, everyone, and welcome to this Federal Society virtual event. My name is Marco J. Lloyd and I'm

assistant director of practice groups for the Federalist Society. Today we're excited to host a

litigation update on legal developments surrounding tithing and religious donations featuring

Daniel Blomberg. Daniel is vice president and senior Council for the Beckett Fund for Religious Liberty,

where he represents a wide array of clients in matters of religious liberty.

Before joining Beckett, he clerked for Chief Judge Alice Batchelder of the U.S. Court

of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and served as litigation counsel with the Alliance

Defending

Freedom. Our moderator today is Dr. James Phillips. James is a constitutional government

initiative director and an associate professor at BYU's Wheatley Institute. He is also a fellow

with the UC Berkeley School of Law's Public Law and Policy Program, and an academic affiliate with the DC-based law firm ShareJaf.

His scholarship has been cited by judges around the country,

including at the US Supreme Court,

and has been covered in various media outlets.
