Gilded Age, Francis Bellepuck, and England's late Victorian and Edwardian eras.

Throughout the summer and for three previous seasons, Julian Fellows has taken us into the glittering complex, but always glamorous world of America's Gilded Age.

But this fall, he allows us to return and glimpse perhaps for one last time, yet another equally enthralling and captivating world, one that stretches over six seasons and three feature films.

Indeed, this is the world of Downton Abbey.

With the feature film Downton Abbey,

the grand finale that has just opened worldwide,

it's time to revisit the Crawley family once again, although with some

tender and heartfelt goodbyes, and as always, the inevitable march of time. As we look back over

the story of the Crawley family from that unforgettable moment in April of 1912 that opened the story

to the last wistful looks of

Robert and Cora, Lord and Lady Grantham, along with daughters, Lady Mary and Lady Edith,

their families, and of course the family that has become our own, the downstairs staff,

led by Carson and the former Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Padmore, all of whom

find new chapters and new realities as life continues on. As we look back and remember our own

favorite moments, it's hard not to think about so much of what swirled around in the drama,

the glamorous settings in the real life high clear castle against a backdrop of elegant,

priceless furnishings and art, along with extravagant and lengthy dinners.

But most of all, perhaps, we think of the fashion and the glamorous hairstyles worn by the cast

in their beloved roles. In this episode, I am honored to be joined once again at the

Gilded Gentleman Table by listener favorite Dr. Elizabeth Block, a historian and specialist in the

fashion and hairstyles of the 19th and early 20th century.
