Summary

In this episode, I’m joined by Meg of Hollar Homestead to talk about what it really looks like to raise a large family on a homestead. From cooking from scratch and homeschooling rhythms to livestock management and letting go of perfection, Meg offers a refreshingly honest take on simple, intentional living.

We are diving into:

  • Starting a homestead with pigs and raised beds
  • Stepping away from dairy cows (for now)
  • Nourishing meals for large families
  • Letting kids cook and carry the load
  • Emergency prep after Hurricane Helene
  • Encouragement for moms in busy seasons

Having, like you said, like a handful of meals that you can pull out on any of those certain occasions, it is from scratch, but it's not going to impress anyone. I think people take from scratch and they take it to mean it has to be way more than it even is. And then also, there's definitely something to be said for getting good at something. If you make bread, you've made it hundreds of times. It's not even hard. It's not something you have to think about. That's a really good advice. It's just finding a couple things that you can really focus on and become really good at. So when it comes to the point where you're just tired or whatever, you can just throw it together. My name is Lisa, mother of eight and creator of the blog and YouTube channel Farmhouse on Boone. On this podcast,

postpartum stuff as she was about to be expecting their sixth child. Well, today we're going to have a
