Summary

After close to 20 years in Afghanistan - August 2021 was looking to be the month when U.S. troops withdrew from Afghanistan. But things didn’t go as smoothly as everyone hoped. And on August 26, 2021, a suicide bomber got close enough to the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, and killed roughly 200 people – including 13 U.S. military service members who were assisting at the checkpoint. This episode is a tribute to the Fallen 13 – 13 U.S. military members who gave their life protecting others. There were 11 Marines, 1 Navy Sailor, and 1 Army Soldier. The Fallen 13 are: Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Darin T. Hoover, 31, of Salt Lake City, Utah. Marine Corps Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, 25, of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Marine Corps Sgt. Nicole L.
