Hello and welcome to the Story Grid podcast. This is a show dedicated to helping you become a better

0:06.4

writer. I'm your host Tim Graal and I am a struggling writer trying to figure out how to tell a

0:11.6

story that works. Joining me shortly as Sean Coyne. He is the creator of Story Grid, the author of

0:17.3

the book Story Grid and an editor with over 25 years experience.

0:22.0

In this book, I actually wrote the last scenes of the manuscript.

0:28.5

So I rewrote a few scenes, added on a few scenes, and just got to the end and actually got to write the end on the end of these scenes. So I sent those eight to

0:39.6

Sean. Of course, I was pretty nervous to see what he had to think about him. So I'm just going to

0:45.1

stop here and jump into the episode so that you can hear his thoughts on the final few scenes

0:55.3

into the editing stage. I think that's going to be really helpful for you guys. But anyway,

0:59.2

let's get through this episode first. I'm going to stop and jump in and get started.

1:04.7

1:22.0

book because I wrote four scenes and then I wrote four more scenes and then I still wasn't

1:27.2

really tore at the end of the

1:28.6

book and so you gave me you said to finish the book and or get to the get through the

1:37.3

confrontation with the villain in five or six scenes so of course I took all six and then I

1:44.1

just went ahead and wrote the last two

1:47.5

scenes of the book just to get to an end, even if I, you know, got to go back and rewrite it.

1:53.4

So I sent you all eight scenes. Some of them, what I found is when I went back and started

1:59.6

reworking the scenes, I just reworked some of the scenes I'd already written.

2:05.8

I took elements that I had been dragging out in other scenes and just added them into early scenes so that I can combine them together.
