This is episode 14 of Tarot Bites,

So for today's episode, our topic is The Emperor.

Are you ready? Let's begin. So the Emperor follows the

Empress and while she rules over the laws of nature, this guy commands the

laws of society. If you take one look at the card, you

know that this guy means business. There's a really stern look on his face, there's a beard,

and a throne made out of stone, unlike our abundant and relaxed

Empress, this Emperor enjoys no such comfort.

His number is four, which is the number of stability.

I also like to think of four, like a four-leg table, so it's secure.

The Empress is the Mother archetype, and the Emperor is the Father archetype.

Now here's what Rachel Pollack has to say about that in 78 degrees of wisdom.

Because our mothers give us life and feed us and shelter us, we tend to see them as figures of love and

mercy and get very upset when they act harshly or coldly.

But the father, especially in traditional times when the sex roles restrictor, remained more remote and therefore a figure of severity.
