Welcome back. It's the big blue banter. New York Giants football podcast. I'm Dan Schneier.

0:06.4

I joined as always my co-ist Nick Vallado. And today's just like a misery session for us,

0:11.5

recapping the Super Bowl and the season that was for the NFL for the New York football Giants.

0:17.8

Inarguably, that's not a word. So let's say arguably, though there's no argument to be had, the worst season in the history of the franchise for the New York Football Giants, their hundredth season.

0:27.7

In so many ways, I mean, they were almost winless at home.

0:32.5

Would have been the first time ever.

0:33.7

A team has lost nine home games.

0:35.2

They won a game.

0:35.8

But ultimately, it's really the cherry on top

0:39.0

of what makes it such a bad season that that win cost them the number one overall pick and their

0:43.6

choice of whatever they wanted out of this draft class uh early rumors suggest the titans are looking

0:48.6

to trade out joe shane could be paying a big price to trade up doesn't look like he's getting

0:53.6

a joe burrow out of this trade up,

0:55.4

but we hope that you can just get someone there that will be really good at that position. If you're going to trade up, you assume it's for quarterback. But so that's the cherry on top there, Sequin Barclay, their former franchise face, which is really what he was, Nick. I mean, look, you could say Daniel Jones was the franchise face because he got paid more and was the quarterback, but everyone who knew anything knew that Sequin Barclay was the leader and kept that locker room together. And the face of the franchise sold more jerseys and Jones and was a more well-liked player than Daniel Jones. So he was their franchise face. He left. He had his wins the Super Bowl immediately.

1:28.4

Immediately. Oh, God. The Eagles, they blow out the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. It's a blowout

1:36.8

win, one of the most lopsided Super Bowl victories since the Broncos Seahawks victory at MetLife

1:42.9

Stadium.

1:47.0

And, yeah, the score got a little close at the end, I guess.

1:49.5

But, like, it was 34-0 at one point.

1:54.3

So really, that was a much bigger loss than the final score suggests for the Chiefs.

1:56.6

So they win the Super Bowl, Nick.

2:18.2

You know, Xavier McKinney walks in Freedancy has eight interceptions all pro season. What else could go wrong for this franchise in one year? I guess with one and a half years left on Daniel Jones contract, they cut him. So the Giants had to cut a player with them one and a half years left. So it's all a big recap from someone on Giants Twitter. You know the list at this point, Nick. But yeah, man, I don't know. How are you feeling about this? Oh, I feel terrible about it. How could you feel good about it? I mean, good for Seguan. He's a great guy, whatever, but like the Philadelphia Eagles just won a Super Bowl. And it's going to go into the annals of history that the New York Giants, as lazy as this analysis is, the New York Giants gave them that because of Sequin, but people are going to have that narrative and floated out there as you and I have discussed. So it's, it's tough. It's tough being a New York Giant fan today. I like to look at things positively. And I'll say, well, the Eagles only have half the Super Bowls the New York Giants have, which is true, but they still only have half, which is a good thing. But holy shit, could these franchises not be on further, further from each other on the spectrum of playing, being an NFL franchise? Because the Philadelphia Eagles, that is, that is a powerhouse. That is a machine, Dan. And we are, we're nothing.
