For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

What I've tried to do in these weeks and we have one more week to do it is to structure these messages on John 316 in a way that you can reproduce it at lunch at work.

So somebody comes up to you in the morning, coffee break and says, you're one of those born-again

Christians, aren't you? One of those born-again people. And you say, well, maybe, depends on what you mean. I'll meet you at lunch and I'll tell you mine and you tell me yours and we see if they match. So you meet at lunch and you say,

the best way for me to define myself and my philosophy of life is with some words of Jesus.

He said, for God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten son

that whoever believes in him won't perish but have eternal life. And when I reflect

on the words of Jesus, I hear four things. I hear that there's a danger to be avoided, namely perishing. And I hear four things I hear that there's a danger to be avoided namely

perishing and I hear that there's a design in God's heart and mind to love the

world and send His son to rescue us from perishing and I hear that there's a duty on my part I have to believe in

that in order to benefit from it and finally I hear a destiny of eternal life and I

embrace that and that's who I am that's my faith that's my walk

Am I one of those born-again people? Okay? I am that's fine that's... I want you to be able to take John 316, wherever you are, to quote it from memory and to remember the four Ds, the danger, perishing, the design, rescue from the love of God and the sending of the sun, the duty, faith, believing, and the destiny, eternal life.

So we're taking one Sunday on each of those, and this kind of becomes the underlying exposition that just lies there

ready to be used if they'll let you talk some more and if you can get into a conversation.

So today we'll talk about the third D, namely into a

delightful duty

delightful duty and easy duty

namely believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.

I want to say six things about it. They go real fast. Number one, believing is the vital
