Fessler. How are you Riley? Not too bad. And Minnestine, how are you Minna?

Peechy. It's October 7th. Today will be marked by a variety of ceremonies and

statements and Israel and Gaza no doubt in the United States reflecting on the past year and on the attacks that occurred

against innocent Israelis on the morning of October 7th of last year by Hamas

that led to the death of 1400 people but also triggered a war that has led to the

deaths of at least 40,000 other people, possibly, possibly as

many as 100,000 if you believe the British scientific journals the Lancet and wars that are now

spreading throughout the region. The vice president I know will be doing a tree planting

ceremony, a traditional Jewish way of commemorating those who have passed later today.

But we are no closer to a solution or frankly even to an acknowledgement of the underlying causes of what happened,

then we were then.

And so we have to view all the news of today in that context. This will be a story that will be a kind of umbrella for for today and one that is probably good chance for everybody to look at some of their own beliefs and ask themselves whether they are the kind of beliefs that lead to a more peaceful and just world.
