A Senate resolution to overturn President Trump's sweeping Liberation Day tariffs narrowly failed in a 49-49 vote with three Republicans joining Democrats, but falling short due to key absences. Despite the resolution

being non-binding and likely dead in the House, it signaled bipartisan concern over the economic

impact of the tariffs, which critics like Senator Rand Paul argued act as a tax on American families.

Trump's administration defended the tariffs amid ongoing trade talks, while GOP leadership

tried to downplay the vote significance and urged patience for potential deals.
