Last week, a coup took place in Niger, and the coup leaders have claimed that the ousted government had given permission to France to carry out an attack on the presidential palace in an attempt to free President Muhammad Bazoum.

Colonel Amadou Abdramanay, one of the coup plotters, made this statement on state television, saying that the authorization was signed by Foreign Minister Hussumi Masadou, who is acting as Prime Minister.
