You probably know by now that domain authority, commonly referred to as

DA, plays a major role in how much organic Google traffic your blog is going to get. On top of that,

the higher your DA is, the more competitive keywords that you can go after.

Going from a DA 30 to a DA 35 can literally increase your organic traffic from existing post

by 20 to 50% depending upon where you and your blog are at.

The problem that bloggers struggle with is in building quality backlinks, which is what drives up domain authority.

The good news is that there is an upward trend in bloggers mastering the post type that draws high quality backlinks.

I call this post the original research DA multiplier.

Orbit Media just released their latest survey results on how many bloggers are writing original

research posts. In 2018, 25% of bloggers had created at least one original research post in the prior 12 months.

In 2020, that number has increased to 42%.

An original research post is where a blogger does their own research into a specific niche topic and publishes their findings. For example, the orbit media

blogging stats that I just mentioned was original research, which they published on their blog.

They surveyed a thousand bloggers and asked them a series of questions and published their results.

The most common way bloggers get their original research is from polling their email list with a survey.

Unfortunately, unless you've been blogging for a while, you probably don't have enough people on your email list to achieve statistical significance.
