Summary

The Thinking Fellows revisit their very first episode on the doctrine of sin. The problem of sin gets to the heart of the Christian faith but is often misunderstood. By focusing on "sins" and not "sinful nature" the need for Christ can become lost or hidden. Sit back, relax, grab a drink, and enjoy the show.

Hello there, and welcome to the Thinking Velo's podcast. My name is Caleb, and I'm joined by our regular hosts today, Drs Rod Rosemblatt, Scott Keith, and Adam Francisco.

Today, I want to do something that a lot of listeners when I meet them in person have

0:23.4

talked about.

0:24.2

It's sort of a part of it is sort of a running joke with the Think Fellows and then part of

0:28.7

this is serious.

0:30.0

We started this show a little over three years ago now.

0:35.1

And the first four or five episodes were definitely rougher than the rest.

0:41.7

We were all new to this, except Rod, who had been on the White Horse in for a long time.

0:46.5

So we were new to doing sort of radio type or, you know, discussion around the table on recording.

0:54.3

The equipment that we first used in those first couple episodes before we made a trip to the

0:59.0

store was not good to say the least.

1:02.7

My editing abilities were not up to snuff either.

1:07.7

And so those episodes, while they're some of the most listened to episodes of

1:11.7

our show are probably some of the lowest quality that we have to offer. And so what I want to do

1:17.9

is revisit the topics that we did there, so in the first five episodes of the show, which was

1:24.4

sin, the law, the gospel, grace, and justification. Now, I don't think there was

1:30.1

anything wrong with the content of those episodes that we did, but I think we have revisited

1:35.7

so many of the topics that we've done in this show under different names or under questions and

1:40.3

a, that it would be good to just anyways revisit these topics now three years later.

1:46.0

Not that the doctrine as we present it will have changed, but perhaps situations regarding error in these or people we've run into has certainly changed over three years.

1:58.0

So just addressing those and now giving people something to listen to that is

2:03.0

up to the modern quality of the Thinking Fellows but deals with the early things we dealt with
