This is the fall line. This is the fall line.

Last episode, we told you the story of Brian Worley, a man from Carrollton, Georgia, who'd moved to Atlanta and began a life there, and settled down with his partner, Jeff. But in 2007, his aging parents back in Carrollton had begun to need his help.

Brian was one child of a large family, and he pitched in, driving the hour back and forth

to care for his parents until his father's death.

Then he moved in with his mother to care for his parents until his father's death. Then he moved in with his mother

to care for her full time. Jeff, his partner, remained in the city where his job required him.

It was a stressful time, made more so by Brian's own health problems. He had a pacemaker,

severe arthritis and narcolepsy. And on top of all this, he also had to

maintain his mother's estate. Eventually, the Worleys made the decision to move their mother into a

nursing home. At the same time, Jeff was caring for his own ailing mother and had left his job

at his longtime employer,

Bell South. Amidst all this, Brian had to drive down to Carrollton from Atlanta on the tail

end of a historic flood for a court date concerning his mother's financial affairs.
