We're doing things a little different today. This story is not from some random person who sent it to me.

This is actually my own story, and my brothers. And it's haunted not just us, but our family

for over a decade. I need to warn you, there will be violence in this story, because whatever it was

out there was real, and it

did kill, brutally, and I'm very thankful that my family themselves were not harmed.

I'm an Arkansas, raised in the Ozarks.

This place is as beautiful as it is unnerving, and there's a reason why.

I've always been a jumpy person, easy to sneak up on and startle, someone who dislikes

having to take the trash down to the curb after dark.

It's not because I prefer scary movies and books, not because I read scary stories for a living. It's because the

deadliest secret of the Ozarks hunted my family for 15 years.

Let me be clear. This isn't secret like some sort of conspiracy, but rather a collection of unsettling events

that my family doesn't really like to bring up, or think about for long, especially in

the broader, longer scale of these events, which I'm only just now diving completely into.

I'm 31 years old now, I'll be 32 in a few days.

It feels like every other week I wake up at 3 in the morning, convinced something is crouching

beside my bed.
