While the period ended in 1613 historically, all was not well within Russia, but it did

come out of the period with important changes to society. Some good, some bad.

Winners coming out of the time of troubles included the service gentry who gained a lot of power, while the Boiors lost most of theirs.

The church came out way ahead because of its ability to rally the people. But the

institution that came of this period with the greatest gain was the autocracy and the position
