Hi and welcome to a special edition of Culture War. I am not Tim Poole. My name's Hannah Claire Brimlow. I'm filling in because Tim is sick. I think it's going to be a great conversation. We're here tonight with Joe Kent. Hey, how's it going? Thanks for having me. Yeah, I'm glad you're back. You were here one of the last times I did IRL. Do you want to tell people a little bit about yourself? Sure. Yeah, absolutely. So retired Greenberry, I did a little over 20 years in the military, 11 combat deployments, worked for the CIA for a little bit, and now I'm running

I'm happy to have you.

We go all the way out to the Pacific Ocean and then a little bit to the east in the Columbia River

1:07.2

Valley and then kind of up north, almost to Olympia. So it's still a very

1:10.9

rural district, timber country. Our major city is Vancouver. Right now, Vancouver is on the

1:17.4

cusp of becoming what Portland used to be, which was like a great beacon for small businesses,

1:21.9

a lot of the tech that's fleeing the rot of California in Oregon. We're just trying to fight that

1:27.4

back and keep it on that side of the river. But the rest of the district, in Oregon and we're just trying to fight that back and keep it on

1:28.2

that side of the river but the rest of the district really it's timber country the major

1:32.9

the Columbia river uh with the fishing industry drives a lot of the economy as well so yeah it's

1:38.7

it's definitely a uh a red district but we're in a very very very very blue state and you've had a

1:43.2

lot of population growth over the last 10 years, right? We have. Yeah, Washington State, right now the Democrats in Washington

1:49.3

are trying to take this away, but we used to have no income tax. Jay Inslee and the Democrats are
