Now, getting back to charismaticism,

charismaticism, as probably everyone is aware,

I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time on the history of it.

You know, it's late 1800s, early 1900s, 4-square gospel.

You know, this comes out of Azusa Street Revival,

comes out of California,

all kinds of weird, crazy heresies and nonsense.

And cults totally come out of California.

California's like a giant cult factory, basically.

It's very good at that.

California gets a grade on its ability to create crazy cults.

They're very good at it.

I believe some of those are fostered and aided by the system, and some of those are organic, just straight-up cults.

And so I don't necessarily have a thesis that there was some conspiracy involved in the rise of charismaticism.

There could be, I'm just not aware of it. Rather, I would assume that much like a lot of

cults and movements, you get uneducated people who mistake their enthusiasm. It used to be

called that in the time of the Enlightenment, Scientific Revolution,

people who were these sort of crazy religious wackos were called enthusiasts. If you read,

I think it's either Locke or Kant. I think it's Locke talks about enthusiasts.

This sort of just, you know, pre-list inspired individuals who believe that they have some, you know, divine direct mandate from God.

God's speaking to them in audible voices or in feelings or in patterns of events, etc.

And this takes off in California at this Azusa Street Revival.
