On debt sex and money, we've had an ongoing conversation about student debt and how for

many of you, it's affecting major life decisions and what feels possible in your life.

We're thinking about that again in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court decision a few weeks

ago that found that President Biden did not have the authority for his plan debt forgiveness

program.

We are watching, as policymakers, debate what happens next, and we'll be listening

to you as you try to sort out what you do next, whether you're someone with debt or

someone with kids who are will one day be college age.

Since we first dug into student debt with you in a big series in 2017, the thing we've

heard over and over again is there's this conundrum at the center of it.

Many of you took on student debt because you thought you were doing what you were supposed

to do, getting educated and setting yourself up for more opportunities.

But then that debt became too much to handle for some of you because of the way it's higher

ed cost of skyrocketed or because your earnings didn't stretch far enough or because the psychological

toll of starting your adult life so far in the whole, it just felt like you'd made some

critical error somewhere.

And that's why we wanted to share this story of student debt with you from this is uncomfortable,

in the oil sands to pay down her college loans.
