Three good friends and Jungian analysts, Lisa Marchiano, Deborah Stewart, and Joseph Lee,

invite you to join them for an intimate and honest conversation that brings a psychological perspective to important issues of the day.

I'm Lisa Marchiano, and I'm a Jungian analyst in Philadelphia. I'm Joseph Lee,

and I'm a Jungian analyst in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I'm Deborah Stewart, a Jungian analyst,

and Cape Cod.

Thank you. Today, there are two of us here, Joseph and me, and we will start to talk about the opposites.

So in a way, it's sort of just perfect that there is Joseph, there's me, are we a pair of opposites in some sense in that there are two.

This is a principle that was central to all of Jung's theory,

of that discriminating and discerning the opposites was the basis of psychological work of growth and development,

and that that was job one of what are the opposites and how to hold them and then how to relate them to our internal world, the psychological world. We all know about the opposites of north and south or in and out or up and down. But what are they

in the psyche, consciousness and unconscious? And what are all the permutations and subtleties

and important energetic dynamics of working with the opposites within us.

And before we leap into that or hold the tension, as Jung often said,

let me tell you about a program in the Philadelphia Young Institute that will be

starting in September. It's not a new program, but it's being offered again this year by

Mark Dean, one of our colleagues and friends and Jungian analysts. And it is the advanced clinical practice program for people who are already

therapists and who have been in practice to understand and apply by working with cases,

Jungian concepts in the context of clinical practice.

This will be a seminar.

It's limited to eight people.
