Summary

In this shortcast Kerry helps us transition from the Old Testament to the New Testament by reviewing what we have learned about who the Great Jehovah really is, and what life in the Galille area and Nazareth were really like, so that we can better appreciate what it really means when Jehovah condescended to be born in Bethlehem.

We are grateful for our sponsor, Lisa Spice, and for our editor, Alexia Muhlestein, and for Rich Nicholls, who composed and plays the music for the episode.

Hello and welcome to the scriptures a real podcast.

0:12.9

This is the podcast where we talk about elements of the scriptures that have become real to us

0:17.2

because we think that helps us draw more power out of the scriptures, and we need all

0:21.4

of that power that we can get. I'm your host, Kerry Mielstein, and this is a Christmas shortcast.

0:27.1

So I've already done an episode with the chapels about spending Christmas in Jerusalem and

0:32.2

Bethlehem that I hope you've listened to by now, and hopefully it was powerful for you.

0:50.1

wonderful interview with uh Andrew Skinner uh about about historically what happens in between the old

0:56.2

and the New Testament that helps us also understand the New Testament. But this time it's more of a

1:00.4

Christmas focus. So what we want to do before we jump into the Christmas is make sure that we

1:07.7

understand or we just want to summarize some of the things we've learned about

1:11.9

Jehovah during this last year of studying the Old Testament. I feel like we've studied the Old

1:16.0

Testament more as a church membership more than we ever have before and that we have a better

1:20.9

feel for what God was trying to do there and who Jehovah is. And I hope that one of the things

1:26.6

that's happened is you've come to recognize the dual nature of Jehovah is. And I hope that one of the things that's happened is you've come to

1:28.0

recognize the dual nature of Jehovah. Jehovah is majestic and powerful and amazing, more than we

1:37.7

can understand so much so that when Ezekiel or others tried to see or see him envision vision and they try to describe it. They just can't

1:45.9

describe it. His might and majesty is beyond description and beyond our ability to comprehend.

1:51.9

I think even when these prophets see him, they can't fully comprehend that might and majesty.

1:56.5

They're just overwhelmed by it. And obviously, their natures have to be changed in order to withstand that
