I was contacted by a young man at a university in Michigan.

It might have been the University of Michigan, and I have a friend named Kevin Williamson,

Kevin used to write for years for national review, and he and I have always bounced ideas

over the years off of each other.

He writes for the dispatch now, which is Jonah Goldberg's operation, and you know, Kevin

and I have had a couple of disagreements, particularly during the Trump years, and that's

okay.

I don't have to agree with everybody on everything.

He's a friend.

He's proven to be a friend over over many years, but I got an email from a college student

and he said, or might have been a PhD student, I'm writing my thesis, so could be his undergrad,

but he said, I am discussing the issue of race, and he is what the liberals would call a person

of color.

So I'm discussing the issue of race and how conservatives are uncomfortable discussing

it.

And Kevin Williamson said that you're not, and that you will have some thoughts on the

matter.

Well, I don't understand how race can be at the center of at least a third of news stories

of national interest in the country every given day, and people are so uncomfortable

about it.

And people will come up to me and say, I'm glad you said this.

You said what I couldn't say.
