Summary

Philip Clayton and Diana Butler Bass joined me for a livestream exploration of different Christologies. This was part of our recent class, The Cosmic Christ, but after so many class members wanted to share it, I decided to go ahead and post it on the podcast. If you enjoy the conversation, you can grab the rest of the class by heading over here. As a scholar, Philip Clayton (Ingraham Professor, Claremont School of Theology) works at the intersection of science, philosophy, and theology. As an activist (president of EcoCiv.org, President of IPDC), he works to convene, facilitate, and catalyze multi-sectoral initiatives toward ecological civilization. As a disciple of Jesus, he finds himself energized by the Spirit in the Quaker community. That's right. Interviews with scholars across the disciplines. So you can think, reflect, and brew your own faith.

0:52.9

Why? Why? Because you don't, you don't want someone to

0:56.2

think for you. And if you do, there's plenty of religion podcasts for that. You want people to

1:01.3

think with you. And today, two of the people I have thought, wrestled, reflected with the most

1:08.6

are here. That's right. This episode is a conversation between

1:12.8

myself, Diana Butler Bass and Philip Clayton. This was actually a live Q&A, the last Q&A from our

1:21.8

Cosmic Christ class that has been running through Advent, and we saved a bunch of the theological questions and such

1:29.1

to really dig in after Christmas because, yeah, it's hard to show up for a live Q&A during

1:35.2

vacation. If your kids are at home, if you're traveling to see people, all that kind of stuff,

1:39.6

very hard to do. And all the clergy in the group are like, whoa, whoa. I know some of you might be on

1:45.7

vacation, but I'm not until that Christmas Eve service is over. So here we are. It was a live

1:52.3

Q&A and so many people in the group immediately are like, can we share this? Can we put it out?

1:56.7

I don't, and had someone explained to me how you don't even have to have experienced

all four

2:01.4

lectures and the other Q&A and stuff to enjoy it, because I saved a whole bunch of the

theology questions, specifically around Christology ones, until the end.
