0:35.7	This devotional address entitled, The Children of Christ, was given on February 4th of 1990 by Neil A. Maxwell, then a member of the quorum of the 12 Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
0:41.3	I want to congratulate BYU for its sponsorship of the Book of Mormon Symposia that now stretch out over several years. It's a marvelous thing
0:50.9	for a university to be concerned with a great book, and in this instance,
0:56.3	one of the greatest, if not the greatest, we yet have. The day will come, brothers and sisters,
1:01.5	when we will have other books of scripture that will emerge to accompany the Holy Bible
1:05.8	and the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. Presently,
1:10.4	you and I carry our scriptures around in a quad.
1:13.6	The day will come when you'll need a little red wagon.
1:16.6	And this university by then will want to sponsor some other symposium.
1:23.6	As in the hymn so beautifully rendered, I will attempt to survey the wondrous cross
1:30.3	by focusing on the Christology in the Book of Mosaic, using not only the words of King Benjamin,
1:37.3	Mosiah, Abedadai, Alma the Younger, but scriptures which lie in the suburbs of the book of Mosiah, as well as other related
1:46.9	scriptures, of course. The final focus will be on the requirements for our becoming what King
1:54.1	Benjamin called the children of Christ, which is my text. Left unexplored or other possibilities, such as some of our LDS scholars
2:05.0	are reconnoitering. For instance, the biblical term Mosaic was probably a political designation.
2:13.4	It is also an honorific title in Hebrew, meaning Savior or rescuer.
2:19.4	Not bad for a bright but unschooled Joseph Smith,
2:23.8	who while translating early on, reportedly wondered aloud to Emma
2:28.1	if there were walls around Jerusalem.
2:31.6	There is so much more in the Book of Mormon than we have yet discovered.
