Is there anything quite like a scary Halloween story?

Well don't you deserve one?

You're going to have to pass out terrible candy to the kids.

Don't give them candy corn.

No one likes it.

But here's a Halloween story, a scary story, and I just want you to remember as you're

sitting around the fire tonight, thinking of headless corpses and so forth.

I want you to think of those desperate children, the illiterate children, in post-apocalyptic

Mad Max times.

You cite one body's story, it's the story of us all.

We got it, math to math, so you got to listen it, remember, because what you hear today,

you got to tell the birth tomorrow.

Why were the illiterate?

They had no schools to go to.

They had no books to read.

There had been a nuclear apocalypse.

We don't have that here now, but we do have the teacher's unions and kids are not reading

at grade level.

They can't figure.

They can't read.

And once they stop reading at third grade, once not at grade level, at third grade, and

only 26% of Illinois children are.
