Today marks the one-year anniversary of the insurrection at the Capitol.

I live in Washington, D.C., and I don't think I'll ever forget,

going from watching historic returns in the Georgia Senate runoff election

and watching votes be certified for President Joe Biden on television

to watching violent insurrectionists storm the Capitol in real time

from my apartment, which is only about a mile away.

Now, January 6th at the Capitol was not the first time that extremists have resorted to violence to try to get what they want.

In fact, many of the tactics and major players that led to the deadly insurrection at the Capitol were the very same that abortion providers

and advocates have been warning about for decades. A few days after the insurrection last year,

I joined my friend Samantha and Annie at the podcast Stuff Mom Never Told You to break down the

huge overlap between the anti-abortion movement and the insurrection at the Capitol and what it

means for all of us.
