It's August 31st, 2011, and this is the Candid Frame. I remember not too long ago, when admitting that you photographed weddings was something that you didn't want to admit to amongst a group of photographers.

People who shot weddings were seen as people specializing in kitsch and cliche.

Well, in the past 20 years, that's changed.

And some of the best photographers around are wedding photographers.

These photographers use light, composition, and their people skills

to make images that rival anything produced by a photojournalist

who reporter photographer.

Today's guest ranks right up there for me.

Michelle Turner's images are beautiful, not merely because she photographs beautiful subject

matter, but because she brings an awareness of light, shape, and form to her photographs,

be they of a couple standing in front of a storefront in

the Dominican Republic or just a simple table setting. And on top of all that, she has a savvy

business sense that allows her to maintain a successful business by always remembering that she is

there to serve not only the bride and groom, but an entire family.
