Today is the eighth and final episode in our series on the Burke and Wills Expedition.

I hope you've enjoyed this amazing story.

Robert Burke and William Wills had both died at the conclusion of our last episode, each succumbing to the harsh realities of the Australian Outback.

Five other of the expedition's men had died as well.

Despite these tragedies, our tale is not over. One final man is still alive, for now.

That is John King, the diminutive Irishman who had trekked across the continent with Birken Wills.

He was now at Cooper Creek, alone in week. Today we have a lot to cover. Here is the agenda.

First, we will catch up to John King and find out the fate of the last unaccounted for member of the Victorian exploring expedition.

Second, we will detail the various rescue attempts that set out to find out the fate of Burke and his men,

especially the efforts made by Alfred Howett.

Third, we will then cover the aftermath of the expedition, as the deaths of Birkenwills will mean,

amongst other things, public hearings.

Fourth, we will take a look at the key people from this tale and do a little review of their lives.

And finally, we will take a look at the legacy of Robert Burke, William Wills, and the Victorian exploring expedition.
