I want to introduce you to the Black Aces, a special fraternity of African-American

pitchers to win 20 games in a major league season. This fraternity was started by my good friend,

the legendary Jim Mutcat Grant, who would become the first black pitcher in the American League to win 20 games.

And in his book called the Black Aces, he wanted to recognize that very rare group and to hopefully use them to encourage others to want to follow in their footsteps.

I am honored to have joining me three members of the Black Aces.

The legendary Dave Stewart, one of the greatest big game pitchers in baseball history, was 1989 World Series

Most Valuable Player and won 20 games or more in four different seasons in 1987, 1988,

1989, and 1990.

Cici Sabathia, who joined the Black Aces in 2010 when he won 21 games and lost only seven,

but also won the Sy Young Award in 2007, and David Price, who would join the Black

Aces fraternity in 2012 when he went 20 and 5 and also won the

Sayyong Award.
