This week we got two early data points for the 2024 election,

that at first look don't seem like they make sense together.

Tuesday was an election day and across the country

Democrats continued their string of victories in state and local contests.

Democratic Governor Andy Bashir was re-elected in Kentucky.

Ohio voters backed abortion rights,

and Democrats took full control of the state legislature in Virginia.

There were a lot of good signs for the Democratic Party. Just a few days

earlier though, the New York Times in Seattle College released a new poll of battleground states

and it didn't look good for the

Biden campaign. Trump was leading in five out of the six states where voters

were surveyed and support for Biden have fallen since 2020, especially among key groups in the party's coalition,

like young people and black voters.

A bad poll on Sunday for the president, and a good night on Tuesday for his party.

That can seem in conflict in terms of what it means for 2024, But one theory explains them both. While Democrats are

doing better on a grassroots level, Biden has unique weaknesses with the

electorate on a national level, mainly his age.

So last week, just the head of election day and the release of the poll. I traveled to Wilmington, Delaware

to hear firsthand from the Biden campaign. What's the case for Biden 2024?

And what's their plan to win over a skeptical country?
