Hey friends, it's Kristen, and I today am ashamed to admit, but I'm going to admit it.

I taught the Old Testament in seminary without ever having read the Old Testament.

Like, I would diligently study the lesson material and the required readings, but I never

read the entire book until, gosh, over 10 years ago.

Growing up in the church, I recited Article of Faith 8 so many times.

We believe the Bible to be the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly, which I interpreted to mean that the Bible isn't very trustworthy and so read the Bible to be the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly, which I interpreted

to mean that the Bible isn't very trustworthy, and so reading it is optional. But, oh, I was so

misguided. As I began studying the Old Testament, I gained such an appreciation for it. I started

to feel the power of reading the same words that Jesus Christ studied and taught while he was on the earth.

I also thought of Nephi, who risked his life to obtain the brass plates,

which contained many of the same stories and prophecies and teachings found in the Old Testament.

The words in the Bible aren't just nice to read if we have time.

They are life changing.

If these words inspired noble men,

like Jesus Christ, Lehii and Nephi,

we can find power in them too.
