First of all, what was the situation in the war prior to the assault in Sicily?

Well it's a really, really interesting moment because I suppose you have to sort of go back to

January 1943 in the Cast Planca conference, which is where the Chiefs of Staff of both the United

States and Britain, plus Prime Minister Winston Churchill, President Franklin Roosevelt,

they all meet up to talk about what's especially they're going to do.
