Second Samuel 13, I want you to come right to the middle of the chapter, to verse 23.

0:19.9

This is one of those times when I wish so much that everybody in here had been in here

0:26.5

last week because this lesson is so important and can really only be understood in light

0:31.6

of where we've been in the last lesson. We've been talking about three children of David,

0:38.7

two by the same mother, Absalom and Tamar, and then Amnon, his firstborn, by a different mother.

0:47.9

And last week we talked about Amnon's desire being for Tamar, his half-sister,

0:53.6

until it made him physically ill or so he thought. And in capturing her through trickery,

1:42.4

something to you before we begin to read the rest of it. Don't let anybody ever tell you that time

1:47.2

heals. Time does not heal. Time can is easily and bitter as it could ever heal. God heals. God heals.

1:58.2

Time can do all sorts of things and for someone who has just let bitterness crawl into them all

2:05.5

in the world it does is take a deeper route. Time just causes whatever was already true

2:12.0

to escalate and to grow. It is God who heals. Begin reading with me then in verse 23 two years later when

2:20.8

Absalom sheep's shears where it bell has are near the border of Ephraim. He invited all the king's

2:26.0

sons to come there. Absalom went to the king and said your servant has had shears come. Will the

2:31.6

king and his officials please join me? This was supposed to be a time of great celebrating and

2:36.8

know my son the king replied all of us should not go we would only be a burden to you. Although
