Hello, everyone. Welcome back to our series on Key Battles of World War One.

We're taking a step away from the key battles.

We're taking a step away from the 10,000-mile satellite orbit view of everything that's going on

with empires and nation-states and movements of hundreds of thousands of troops.

We're going to zero in on the experiences of the individual soldier

and in the next episode we're going to look at what it was like actually being in the trenches.

Spoiler alert, it was not pleasant.
