I'm sure you've seen a lecture, but today we're going to have a conversation.

Well, it's great to see you.

You do not let any grass grow

under your feet. You keep busy. And you have a new book called The Avatar. And, you know,

I'd like to start by just defining the word avatar. You know, a lot of people would not know

what that word actually means. Yeah, or actually

they have an idea, a modern idea of it, that when they go on a computer and do a computer game,

they have an avatar that represents them. But the word avatar comes from basically paganism.

And that is the concept that a god or a spirit has a representative or a vessel or an image,

someone or something, but often a person who represents that.

In the ancient times, in the, actually I'll go right into this part.

You know, in the ancient world you had what we're called,

they call them the God Kings or the goddess queens. And they were like, the Pharaoh of Egypt was considered a living

image of the Egyptian god. So the queens, the same thing of the goddesses. And you have that

in Babylon, same thing around the world. They were, they were as in a sense avatars and the interesting thing is that

you know the bible says that behind the gods are actually spirits they're called the shadim

in hebrew or the diomonia in greek and it's interesting because what this what these spirits these are
