They say there are no known Alzheimer’s disease causes and no Alzheimer’s disease cure, but what about this?
Today we're going to talk about Alzheimer's disease. I'm going to cover a little bit about the Alzheimer's brain.
Alzheimer's disease explained:
The brain is composed of neurons, and you have synapses between the neurons where communication travels, and certain electrical impulses occur.
The brain only represents 2% of all the tissues, but it takes up 20% of all the fuel. It's a fuel hog.
The essence of Alzheimer's is basically atrophy of the neuron, and you're losing synapses. The reason why this is happening is because they are starving to death. They are starving of glucose, which is their fuel.

0:55.0 | And you have these little synapse or gap between these neurons, |
1:00.0 | which the communication travels through here, |
1:02.0 | you have certain electrical impulses that occur. |
1:05.4 | Now the interesting thing about the brain is it only represents 2% of all the tissues, |
1:10.0 | but it takes up 20% of all the fuel. |
1:14.1 | So it's a fuel hog. |
1:17.2 | Yet it's not like pumping like your heart is |

1:21.7 | It's not contracting, it's just sitting there. |
1:24.0 | It's not like the kidney where it's filtering blood or the liver that's doing all these metabolic things. |
1:29.0 | So really what it's doing, it's taking chemistry and converting it into electrical energy to send signals and |

1:41.0 | So it's an electrical organ. So the essence of Alzheimer's is basically |
