Thank you for tuning in to a special, bedtime-friendly bonus episode of The Adventures of Power Dog in Dogland about falling in love with the sea! This is a story about a sweet puppy named Taffy. She lives on a planet of dogs and other friendly creatures called Dogland. We have sometimes referred to her as the bravest dog in all of Dogland, but a quality she has that we really admire is her curiosity. For this young pup who sat by the sea and who wondered — and for other puppies who wonder — What sea stories are yet to be told? We explain what “zoomies” are, how water travels through the world to become part of the ocean, what is left when you dry out ocean water, and what salt and lime crystals look like under a microscope. This story is inspired by the first part of a short and lovely book in the public domain called Sea Stories for Wonder Eyes by Mary Earle Hardy. We end the episode with a solid five minutes of ocean waves gently splashing on soft, silky sand. 0:45.0	be talking about the ocean or the sea. And as many listeners have requested, this is a story
0:51.9	about Taffy, Power Dog's first cousin, and Taffy's twin sister. We have sometimes referred
0:58.2	to her as the bravest dog in all of Dogland. But another quality she has that I really admire
1:05.3	is her curiosity. Do you remember that Taffy loves the ocean? She felt so happy whenever
1:13.5	she was swimming in the sea. But she was also so very fascinated by anything having to
1:19.7	do with the ocean, whether it was the way waves were, what lies in the deepest parts of the ocean,
1:25.4	or what can be found along the shores. Her love for the sea and eventual desire to study it
1:33.1	started when she was a very young pup. There was a family vacation to Hoofy, where they all
1:40.4	stayed in a wonderful house right on the beach. Taffy and Taffy's mothers had announced that the
1:46.1	pups were allowed to wander on their own as long as they followed the rules about staying safe
1:51.6	and checking in. The mamas had taken them on many walks and taught them to look out for sneaker waves
1:58.2	to stick together and to never, ever turn their backs to the ocean. Taffy paid very close attention
2:05.9	so that she might learn everything she could about this beautiful place that felt so magical to her.
