Summary

This week I interview Damon Newpher of Adventure Bound on the Fly, a guide service that specializes in fly fishing from all sorts of craft, including stand-up paddleboards. Damon uses his SUP to chase steelhead, bass, and even muskies in his western New York location, but has ranged as far away as Belize and the Yucatan with inflatable boards, and has even floated remote rivers and lakes in Chile from them. He advises us on why you would want one, what to look for, how to accessorize one, and how to navigate moving water. These craft offer great advantages because they can get into places no other craft can go, with more stealth than any other method. Plus you are up above the water so you can spot fish and subsurface structures easier. And of course an added benefit is that you’ll stay in great shape while you fish!

1:21.6	Do you recommend these things? Is there any benefit to these things or are they just for fun with a cat? Have you ever used one?
1:29.0	Well, I do recommend them. There is somewhat of a benefit. They are fun with the cat. I do use
1:37.7	one quite frequently. We have one in the office that we play with regularly
1:44.0	we usually take up to the sport shows and when things are slow we play with them there
1:50.0	there there a lot of fun and they do mimic the motions of flycasting fairly well.
1:59.3	It's about the only way you can cast in some place with a really short ceiling or a typical
2:07.6	ceiling, not a big high ceiling or not outdoors.
2:10.8	And it does mimic the, you have to use the same casting motions that you would
2:15.6	casting a big boy rod or a big girl rod. So they're fun it's a good way of working on the basics and it's a good way to get the kids kind of interested in fly casting because the Orvis one comes to these cute little Velcro fish that you can try to catch
