0:05.2	are getting ready to have a wonderful time with your families. My name is Heidi St. John. This is
0:09.7	the Off the Bench podcast. And today I'm going to give you a little bit of the history of Thanksgiving.

0:16.5	Well, I am very excited today because well, first of all, I've got a wonderful guest coming on my

0:36.0	on on Thursday and Friday. And we're going to talk about the fight for truth and why it's so important.
0:42.0	I just did that interview today ahead of Thanksgiving. And you guys are going to be so, so blessed.
0:47.7	But I've been getting some questions here at the show, which really kind of shows where we're at,
0:52.7	I think, as a culture. A lot of people don't understand the history of Thanksgiving anymore or why
0:58.2	it's so important that we do it. And I think we have forgotten in many ways what God says in his
1:04.0	word about being thankful. We are called to be a thankful people thankful for what we've been given,
1:09.5	thankful for what for what God has done. This nation, despite what you guys may have heard on the
1:15.4	news or in your public universities or in your high schools, this nation really was formed as a
1:20.4	Christian nation. And the pilgrims didn't come here. Like a lot of people think to flee persecution.
1:28.3	They came because they'd been hanging out in Holland, right, for a long time. What they were worried
1:32.0	about, these are the Puritans. What they are worried about was that their kids were going to be seduced
1:36.6	by the culture. So they weren't worried about persecution. They were worried that their kids were
1:41.8	going to be seduced really by the culture. And boy, I'll tell you what, you fast forward to 2022.
1:46.9	And they weren't wrong. What they were afraid of was going to happen in the materialistic
1:52.2	Dutch culture has actually happened right here in the United States. And frankly, we need to teach
1:57.9	our children why Thanksgiving is so important. And I hope you guys are taking time today to really
