being evacuated and fleeing as exchanges of artillery fire between the two countries

continue into a second day. The long, largely forested border region has been the scene of

historic tensions for decades. But clashes in the past few days are fuelling fears of

escalation and possibly a new conflict. Each side is blaming the other for starting the deadly

strikes on Thursday. The Thai army accused Cambodia of firing rockets into civilian areas in four

separate provinces, which triggered their retaliation, they say,

with F-16 fighter jets to strike Cambodia.

who's near Samrung City in northern Cambodia.

And we did suspend an earlier interview on safety grounds with him as he could hear gunfire

close by. We did manage to catch up with him later.

20 minutes ago, I hear the gunshots over my hotel and I need to move a little bit outside.

We are talking now at some place that I think it's safe.

It's around 50 or 60 kilometers from the place where Thailand and Cambodia had changed firing.

It has been reported and I also witnessed some shots from some artillery firing from Cambodia, firing back to Thailand.
