terrific interview I thought with author and local geographer Richard Campanella.

It was all about the history of Bourbon Street and Richard's written this wonderful book that goes through

From the very beginning of New Orleans and the French quarter and one of the things that was really interesting to me was that Bourbon Street was sort of just an ordinary street.

It was a residential street it had a little bit of commerce on it, but there was

nothing exceptional about it and it wasn't until many many years later.

I'm sort of coming out of the Storyville era that you heard about in the last few episodes,

that it really started to become the tourist destination that it is now,

and arguably the most important street in the city of New Orleans, which incidentally we just

had a celebrated our 299th anniversary as a city right before I recorded this.
