We're not dachs and another guest. It's a beautiful thorough crash course on the history of the Russian Revolution and the Soviet Union. We are very excited to have Daniel here. So my name is Daniel.

And I like to say that I'm really just a guy. Like I don't, I have a bit of a formal educational background in Russian area

studies. And I've been kind of living and breathing Russia in various capacities for the last,

like, 20, 25 years. But I don't have, like, a PhD. I didn't dig through declassified archives

or anything like that.

I just have read a lot of Lenin and Trotsky and Stalin and the people who do a good job of actually summarizing the real story of the Russian Revolution after that.

I've spoken to Russians about it, and I just think it's, like J.T. said, a really important history.

It was the first successful overthrow of the bourgeoisie and the landowning aristocracy in world history.
