So over the weekend, Spencer Carberry became the NHL coach of the year, winning the Jack

Adams Award. I don't think it's that much of a shocker. Meantime, we have a phenomenal Stanley

Cup finals going on. Game one was decided in overtime, late in overtime. Game two, both of which were out in Edmonton, decided in overtime, late in overtime, a game two, both of which were out in Edmonton, decided

in double overtime. Florida and Edmonton now nodded at a game apiece with game three

tonight back in South Florida in what has been a very compelling series. Joining us right now to talk about Spencer Carberry,

the Caps, and a little bit about Stanley Cup finals

So this wasn't that much of a surprise, right?

I think that he was certainly the frontrunner once the regular season ended,

but just give us a sense of, A, your reaction to it,

and then B, how impressive he's been here in two years as the Caps head coach.

Yeah, Kevin, I don't think anyone was surprised

that uh coach carberry won the jack adams uh trophy i i think he was the he was the leader

at the end of the regular season you know as good as scott arneal did um uh and you know there's some

other guys you know dean evison and marty, you know, Dean Eveson and Marty St. Louis all did

really well with their teams. That said, I think what put Spencer over the top, at least from

my vantage point, is the fact that he integrated so many new players, right? The team totally

reinvented itself last off season. And adding seven new players, right? The team totally reinvented itself last off season and

adding seven new players. And then you look at the metrics and the analytics and the numbers,

and you see the massive jump team made from last year to this year. And I think it was a slam dunk

that Carberry was going to win coach of the year.
