And here's a little bit of background.

In 2021, Ryan Cooper, age 42, a farmer, found shot to death as he

slept in a chair in his Iowa home. Now, as investigators kind of dug in, they came up with a

twisted love triangle, one of the most familiar shapes that you will find on dayline.

And also a plan fueled by passion and by money, one that ultimately led to murder.

Dateline. Let's do it. So this really was a kind of classic Dateline, I thought. I mean, this is

the small town where everyone knows everybody else and people don't lock their doors.

Absolutely. This is classic farm country. I grew up in a farming area. People didn't lock their doors.

And it was neighbors, help neighbors, and everyone knew each other. You know, it's kind of a cliche, but it's a cliche for a reason.

And clearly the fact that everybody knew everybody else kind of played into this story.
