We atheists are often asked the question, what evidence would convince you of the existence of God?

Now, the common response is often, well, I don't know, but God should.

Now, this is a pretty logically bulletproof answer, but understandably unsatisfying.

Now, personally, I would be rather amazed if my vision,

which has been completely bereft since birth,

was suddenly healed, and I had 2020 vision.

That would be miraculous to me.

However, the problem comes that my sight suddenly becoming completely

perfect would give me the same amount of evidence for God as it would for wish-granting fairies,

benevolent wizards, rogue nanomachines, and I wouldn't know how to distinguish what caused it. Furthermore, every time I hear

of miracles, I am reminded of the Arthur C. Clark, quote, technology sufficiently advanced

is indistinguishable from magic. Imagine yourself transported back to biblical

times. You could, with a few consecrated wafers, healed the sick or with your mighty staff,

strike down the unbeliever at a thousand cubits with mighty thunder. Only that's just a few tablets of a moxicillin,

and your dad's or granddad's old 30 aught six from the war. Science makes miracles mundane,

and so the heathens are very much disbelieving of the miraculous claims of the Bible and other texts.

But if you have proof that miracles are real, if you can tell us that the supernatural truly does

have influence into our daily lives,

then you should call us,

because the show starts now.
