eight militants during a raid along the border with Afghanistan. This is AP within these last hours.

decades has kept the Long War Journal. Bill, this is TTP, that's the Pakistani Taliban working with the Afghanistan Taliban.

Can we conclude any of that, Bill?

Yes, John, absolutely. The TTP, which is known as Tariq Taliban, Pakistan or the movement of the Taliban in Pakistan is closely allied with the Afghan Taliban. The Afghan Taliban sheltered with the TTP during the when it's tough times in the

insurgency during the US presence in Afghanistan and the the TTP has sheltered with the

Afghan Taliban when the Pakistani military

launched an offensive after the TTP controlled large areas of of Kiber-Potinku province

and all of the tribe what used to be called the tribal agencies. So the leader

the the mirror of the TTP wears allegiance to the Afghan Taliban and look there's

kind of a joke and I don't even think it's a joke anymore, that, you know, when the Taliban were on the Afghan side of the border, they were the Afghan Taliban, and when they're on the Pakistan side of the border, they were the Pakistani Taliban and this a lot of these

groups a lot of these individuals you know move seamlessly from side to side from

border to across the borders and will participate in tax against either what was then the Afghan government and today which is still the Pakistani government.

Pakistan has started at least initially to push Afghans who've been living in is it

to push Afghans who've been living in the country for years,

some who've never lived in Afghanistan

to push them back into their country.

Now we have this attack on the border region. The Taliban, has it got a new mission,

Bill? Is the Afghanistan Taliban ambition to take over Pakistan? Do they dream that big?

The Afghan Taliban is supporting the Pakistani Taliban. They certainly would love to have a friendly Islamic emirate of Pakistan on its border. But the Afghan Taliban is also beholden to the

Pakistani state for helping it win its insurgency against the Afghan government
